Our Sensory Showtime event went very well. We had more than 100 participants plus some guests, too, and some media coverage. We are seriously looking at being able to do this in other cities throughout Indonesia as there is interest. Thank you again, Erik Linthorst, and our deepest gratitude for you and all your team at the SPD Foundation.

Autistic-Like is a gem - a brilliant reminder that by watching closely and looking for what works, parents can find the right help for their child."

FAQs

Q. Who is sponsoring SENSORY SHOWTIME?
A.SENSORY SHOWTIME events are community-based activities organized worldwide by groups and individuals with a commitment to raising awareness of Sensory Processing Disorder and other sensory challenges. Organizers include hosts of our SPD-Parent Connections groups, occupational therapists and other professionals, hospitals and schools, and individuals with a heart for sensational kids and the struggles that families everywhere experience in the search for a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment for children.

Q. What is the purpose of SENSORY SHOWTIME events?
A.To raise awareness of SPD. In most locations, fundraising will also take place to raise money for the SPD Foundation and its initiative to achieve diagnostic recognition of SPD in the upcoming revision of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V).

Q. Is this movie really about SPD? The title mentions autism, and the parents talk very little about SPD. I'm confused.
A. Autistic-Like makes the case that sensory issues are under-recognized and under-diagnosed, which makes it hard for families to find the treatment their kids need. As Dr. Stanley Greenspan says in the film: "All children with autism have sensory processing issues. Not all children with sensory processing issues are autistic." If more doctors, clinicians and parents knew the differences between these conditions and the appropriate treatment for each, more children would get the help they need more quickly. The film aims to help this happen.
