Lecture 1: The Art of Parenting a Child with SPD

April 9, 2013

From meltdowns to picky eating, children with Sensory Processing Disorder require a different kind of parenting. What you thought was bad behavior in need of a logical consequence may in fact be a neurological traffic jam in need of a certain kind of relief.

M.A., STAR Center’s Marriage & Family Therapist understands the challenges and joys you experience every day as a parent of a child with SPD.  Lisa specializes in working with families of children with SPD, and over the years has developed tools and strategies that can help.

Lecture 2: Understanding Early Childhood Speech and Language: Development and Delays

May 7, 2013

Learn about speech and language milestones, the current best practices for speech and language therapy, and practical and effective strategies to incorporate at home to help your child’s communication development.

Join Carrie Dishlip, M.S. CCC-SLP, one of STAR’s speech language pathologists, for a parent-friendly discussion on speech and language development and delays in toddlers and preschoolers.
