Professor Lewkowicz has been conducting infant development research for over 30 years and is an internationally recognized authority on infant perceptual/cognitive development. He obtained his B.A. degree at Brandeis University and his Ph.D. degree at the City University of New York. He then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in child mental health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. He has served as President of the International Society on Infant Studies as well as on the Executive Board of the International Society of Developmental Psychobiology. He is an elected Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association. He has published many scientific papers, book chapters, and has edited books on various aspects of infant development. His research has been funded over the years by the March of Dimes Foundation, the Unicorn Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health.
