Neuroscientist – SPD Foundation

The SPD Foundation research program evaluates behavioral and psychophysiological correlates of Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) in children. We evaluate typically developing children and clinical populations with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and other conditions.

Our research questions include:

  • What discriminates SPD from other conditions with overlapping behavioral symptoms?
  • What are the neural mechanisms of SPD, and what are potential underlying processing abnormalities that might account for challenges observed in SPD?
  • Can the treatment effectiveness of interventions for SPD be documented with psychophysiological markers of change?

The ideal candidate has expertise in EEG (event-related potentials) and experience in testing children with disabilities, e.g., ADHD, Autism, SPD. Experience in multi-sensory integration paradigms, trouble-shooting hardware, programming software (e-prime preferred), and statistics (SPSS) are needed as well as exceptional team skills. Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology or a related area is required.
