The SPD Foundation is the nation's foremost advocate for recognition of Sensory Processing Disorder by the American Psychiatric Association and other diagnostic systems that recognize and classify developmental, neurological, mental, and cognitive disorders. The Foundation is also a tireless champion of intervention, accommodation, and understanding of SPD in schools, health care practices, homes, and wherever people live, play, work, or seek services.

. . . and advance SPDF's goal of bringing hope and help to the millions of children and adults whose lives are disrupted every day by SPD.

You can help support SPD advocacy by contributing home, school, or other video clips of your sensational child that illustrate social, emotional, motor, self-care (e.g., eating/dressing/toileting), and/or other problems that result from sensory challenges. Videos such as these will be used in the eLearning courses we are developing as a means of raising funds to complete the additional research required by our DSM campaign.

Our need is for video clips (electronic file, DVD, VHS) showing all the subtypes of SPD:

  • over-responsive (overwhelmed by sensory stimulation)
  • under-responsive (passive, quiet, lost in their own world)
  • sensory seeking (constantly on the move)
  • postural disorders (weak/low endurance)
  • motor planning (awkward, clumsy, difficulty with multi-step activities)
  • sensory discrimination (e.g., difficulty understanding oral directions [auditory discrimination]; difficulty seeing shapes and forms correctly [visual discrimination])

If you have a video clip that might be helpful, you may submit an electronic file through a secure site, a DVD, or a VHS videotape. To complete this process, please take the following steps:
