Prerequisite: Level 1 Intensive Mentorship Program

The objective of Level 2 is to develop advanced treatment skills. Participants will have an opportunity to apply knowledge from Level 1 by treating STAR Center clients and participant in active mentoring from Dr. Lucy Jane Miller, Dr. Sarah A Schoen, and the STAR Center occupational therapy staff. Each participant will be responsible for the daily co-treatment of one client per day with a STAR Center occupational therapist and will be responsible for the following:

  1. Focusing on relationship and engagement of the child you will be treating
  2. Utilizing clinical reasoning tools during treatment of SPD subtypes
  3. Completing daily documentation using STAR Center treatment note form
  4. Preparing recommendations for family
  5. Engaging in group problem solving
  6. Making recommendations for home activities
  7. Utilizing cognitive behavioral strategies
  8. Engaging clients and families in the treatment process
Each mentee will be provided a copy of the videotape from each treatment session they conduct. The videotape will be used for discussion during mentoring meetings as well as review in the evening in preparation for the next day’s treatment session. We recommend participants bring a laptop for this purpose.

Since only two candidates will be accepted per session, our selection process is quite stringent. We do this to insure the best possible paring of mentees and skill sets and to establish a setting conducive to learning in this intensive program format.

The cost for the Level 2 Mentorship session is $1,500 ($250 deposit; $1,250 paid in full 30 days prior to program start).
